There's a trick the industry doesn't advertise: an ingredient only works above a certain concentration. Below that, it's just a name on a label that’s real enough to print but too little to matter. 

This is called fairy dusting.

Ingredient lists are ordered by concentration & position tells you the percentage of the ingredient within the formula. 

Unless the brand explains why some ingredients are more concentrated than others, you can’t be sure what’s doing the work and what’s just there for marketing.  

Take Olivem 1000 for example. We use it as an emulsifier that holds our formula together.  It’s dosed correctly to mimic the structure of your skin's own lipid barrier, helping lock in moisture instead of just blending ingredients on paper. Most brands use just enough to stabilize their formula. We dose it for full spectrum performance.
